This decision is a concrete way to change the life and liberties of the people from the United States. As you know homosexuality is a sexual orientation, in other words an attraction (as defined by the American Psychological Association).
Every individual is granted liberty to have the religion they prefer or rather have none, the same is expected with sexual orientation, the government should protect the individual’s right to live their sexual life in liberty, but not pick a certain sexual orientation or philosophy to be imposed to everyone. Nonetheless this ruling changes everything, from the basic rights and liberties to the rejection of scientific proof, moral codes, and religious liberty. Even though the director of the Human Genoma Project, Dr. Francis Collins, stated that homosexuality is not genetic but rather an attraction that is formed in an individual, as well as religion (No gay gene or God gene). This ruling assumes homosexuality to be innate to a human being, like your sex (male or female) or color of skin, which you are born with and have no control over it.
With this ruling now the liberties to conscience, expression, thought, religion, family and education are threatened and challenged.
If you believe that homosexuality is bad (wrong), due to medical reasons, moral reasons, religious reasons, culture and/or tradition. You will have no more liberty to think, believe, express, teach or even feel that way, because your liberty has been cut, removed, limited, taken off. If a society only grants you the right to comply but not to disagree then that liberty which you believe is an illusion.
Let me get to some concrete cases in how this ruling will affect everyday american life, but mostly the future of the United States.
The purpose of every state is to guarantee the liberties and rights of every human being, despite their differences. It is to provide fair and equal treatment to everyone despite their social, philosophical, religious, ethnical, and/or sexual differences.
Why is the human being the end purpose of the state? Because we humans are an end and not a mean to . . . (fill in the blanks). Every individual is granted with unalienable rights, starting with the most basic right to life. The government should protect the individual’s right since birth until death, as well as guarantee fair treatment throughout their development. Let us not forget that children’s right are considered supreme when comparing them with adult rights; for example, the right of a child to a father and a mother trumps the «right» of two men or two women who may conceive or see a child as a means to their socially formed «family».
However, now that the Supreme Court has leveled natural marriage (which end is reproduction) and adopted social marriage as valid, then the first to suffer these consequences will be the most vulnerable, children, whose right to a family and to a father and a mother could be trumped by the desire of two men or two women to used them as a means to establish a family. We should remember that the reason why the government intervenes in marriages to begin with is to guarantee the rights and duties of the couple and parents, once a family is formed by reproducing children. Why would the Supreme Court have the need to recognize Gay Marriage? Was it not enough with their liberty to «love» their partner and live as they pleased?
Let´s talk about education, which used to be the responsibility of parents in ways of values, religion and morality. Now every school, whether christian or secular, will be forced to teach about homosexuality as an innate trait comparable to sex or color of skin, therefore molding them into their moral likeness, sowing the seeds of contempt to anything that may oppose this view. If you believe your child is prey to this harmful way of thinking, then you will be sent to prison and be forced to receive counseling to overcome your supposed homophobia. Even though you are rejecting an attraction or indoctrination of your children, you will be conceived as a hater. If you find this hard to believe then check the case of the father David Parker in Massachusetts who suffered literally what I just explained.
Let’s talk about freedom of speech, conscience, religion, thought! If you believe in God and his revealed Word in the Bible, then you must keep it secret and not allow it to transform your mind and way of living, because doing so may be considered a hate crime! Forget about preaching about God’s holiness, much less putting a moral label to behaviors and attractions. You must act like the Jews during the time of the Roman Empire who sealed a treaty of peaceful coexistence as long as they treated their affairs internally and did not intervene in their moral issues. However, once the Roman Emperor Neron had his third homosexual marriage with his former slave Pythagoras, in a full traditional Roman ceremony, a former pharisee named Paul (Saul of Tarsus) wrote a letter to the people of rome, today known as the letter to Romans in the Bible. That was not politically correct then, as it is not today, and Paul was charged with 14 legal cases throughout his ministry finishing with his beheading in front of the Emperor Neron himself. So unless you are willing to follow the example of Paul, as he did of Jesus Christ, this might be something positive for those who rather hide their faith than live it out.
If you are a judge who may believe that granting a child to an homosexual couple is wrong, or perhaps if you have built your own orphanage which happens to be Christian and refuse to give children into adoption to homosexual parents, guess what! You will be fired, your orphanage shut down, like it has already occurred in certain countries in the world.
